Due to the extreme heat of Texas summers, people are advised to remain hydrated when outdoors and to avoid strenuous activities during peak daytime hours when it is hottest.

The advisory is set to expire Thursday at 8 p.m., but PIX11 Meteorologist Linda Church warns the heat could rise through Saturday.
Here’s what you need to know. While not as hot as Thursday, humidity will be higher on Friday, once again resulting in a heat index near 100.
The city of Houston activated its Heat Emergency Plan and opened cooling center across the city. “Drink plenty of fluids.stay in an air-conditioned room.stay out of the sunshine.and check up on relatives and neighbors”.
For those seeking to cool themselves at a beach, forecasters are urging them to check rip tide conditions at the weather service before getting into the Atlantic Ocean, especially south of Boston.
With the heat index, it could feel like 105 degrees this weekend.

In addition to oppressive, sticky conditions, scattered showers and brief heavy downpours are forecast for Wednesday. Sunday will also be rainy, but likely cooler and with less humidity. However, a few isolated thunderstorms could bring temporary relief.
