The Mexican government discontinued the tropical storm warning and there were no coastal warnings or watches in effect.

Javier was producing maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour (72 km per hour), and was located some 110 miles (177 km) west of the port of Manzanillo.

Tropical Storm Earl has now become a Tropical Depression as it moves over land in Mexico and is expected to dissipate soon.

This Wednesday and Thursday have been declared as alert days due to the flooding potential from heavy tropical rains in the forecast.

The new storm Javier will concentrate on Mexico’s Baja California Sur, causing heavy rain and winds at the beginning of the week, moving from the Mexico mainland. Officials had earlier listed six deaths.

After forming in the western Caribbean on August 2, Earl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane near Belize City on August 4.

It regained strength after passing over the Gulf of Mexico before making a second landfall on Veracruz’s coast late Friday.
