Heavy winds and rain to hit Hampshire

Saturday Very wet and windy conditions arriving from the south west during the morning, with frequent heavy bursts of rain in the south and accompanied by strong winds and gales.

A severe warning has been called for Nottinghamshire with strengthening winds and even gales forecast.

“As this rain will be falling on near saturated ground, please be prepared for the risk of localised flooding and some disruption to travel”.

It’s going to be another blustery evening for Nottinghamshire residents as the county is issued a yellow weather warning for wind.

In addition, a warning for strong winds is in place between 11am and 11.45pm.

20-30 mm of rain is expected quite widely across the Southwest area with locally 40-60 mm possible on south-facing slopes.

While Saturday will see temperatures creeping in to double figures of 10 to 11C in southern and central England, these will fall down to 7C or 8C in the Midlands.

He said although things will settle down briefly on Sunday winds will pick up by the afternoon and persist in to the start of next week.

Gusts of 50mph are likely inland and up to 65mph by the sea.

There is another weather warning out for Cornwall.
