Red Crescent spokesman Mostafa Mortazavi was quoted by ISNA news agency saying seven were killed, including the patient, crew members, and medics.
According to Al.com, the aircraft was reported missing at around 12:17 a.m., and is believed to have crashed three minutes after responding to an automobile crash.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration are expected to arrive on the scene later today. The medical helicopter went down in a swampy, wooded area.
The National Traffic Safety Board is now investigating the cause of the crash. Reeves said in a statement. “We will continue to pray for those grieving this loss and those who place their lives in harms way daily to keep our communities safe”.
It was operating out of Troy Regional Medical Center.
The helicopter was operated by Hayes Ambulance and Flight, a private EMS company.
