Heller Joins Dems in Rejecting Clean Repeal
Collins and Murkowski both voted against more comprehensive Republican proposals to repeal and replace Obamacare this week.

A conservative-backed plan to repeal the bulk of ObamaCare and give lawmakers a two-year window to replace the struggling health law failed on a Senate vote Wednesday, in the latest setback for the repeal push.
Donald Trump has suffered a major blow after the US Senate voted against a plan to repeal Obamacare.
The rejection of “clean repeal” pushed by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kty., was not expected to pass the upper chamber.
The plan is to repeal the individual mandate, the employer mandates and tax on medical devices, and it would not cut Medicaid.
That leaves skinny repeal as one more option.
Democrats have said they have “hundreds” of amendments to offer and are preparing for a marathon.
But the point of the narrow repeal measure would not be to enact it. There is frustration among Americans as to why the Republicans can’t come together and get this done.
“I’m not going to vote for a figment of hope and I’m not going to tell people back in SC this replaces Obamacare”, he said, adding, “I’m not the bad guy here”. Bob Corker, R-Tenn. It was not meant to become law, but to open a path for a House-Senate conference committee to try to work out comprehensive legislation Congress could pass and send to Trump.
Vice President Mike Pence cast the tie-breaking vote.
That strategy would require conservative senators like Paul and Sens.
Senators will continue their repeal effort on Thursday.
Graham called the “skinny” bill “a disaster” and “a fraud”. “The goal is to replace Obamacare”. The Senate is set to begin a vote-a-rama on an unlimited amount of amendments Thursday evening, and GOP senators expect a final vote on their health care bill early Friday morning, likely around 4 a.m. The ACA allows them to charge three times more. If that bill fails, it’s not clear what Republicans will do next.
Their statements deal a blow to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s effort to pass legislation.
After he voted, McCain stood at his seat and accepted hugs and handshakes from all senators in both parties. “It’s not the bill that Sen”.
“At the end of the day, we’ve got to start somewhere”.
One of the most effective rallying cries against the Affordable Care Act in 2009 and 2010 was a simple question: “Have you read the bill?” Lindsey Graham said at a press conference. It turns out they were show boating a year-and-a-half ago.
But if the House simply voted to approve the Senate’s bill as-is, it would be sent to President Trump to be signed into law instead.
“I would like to have the kind of assurances he didn’t provide”, McCain, R-Arizona, told reporters. GOP lawmakers knew it before that he would be vetoed the law.
Meanwhile, insurers weighed in with concerns that lifting the mandate would destabilize the health care system, top advocacy groups like the American Medical Association blasted the repeal, and the Congressional Budget Office estimated it would deprive 16 million people of their already existing health insurance.
