Hellickson’s 3-hitter leads Phillies over Marlins 8-0

In the Philadelphia Phillies’ longest game this season, pinch-hitter Jimmy Paredes played hero in the 13th inning with an RBI single to deliver a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Friday night.Both teams had opportunities to score in extra innings.Miami loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the 11th, but J.T. Realmuto grounded out to end the threat.

Center fielder Odubel Herrera is one of a handful of young players giving the Phillies hope for the future as he is 10-for-20 in his last five games after going 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Saturday, raising his average to.283.

Derek Dietrich tied it in the eighth with a two-out, pinch-hit homer.

Peter Bourjos opened the 13th inning with a single to left field off Marlins closer A.J. Ramos. Freddy Galvis was then intentionally walked to load the bases.

The Marlins will activate Wei-Yin Chen from the disabled list for Monday’s start against the Washington Nationals. He was left off the Phillies’ 40-man roster following last season and his goal entering spring training was to get a September call-up.
