While one would have expected the Sanjay Bhansali directorial to fizzle out, considering that it’s clashing with one of the biggest films of the year, Bajirao Mastani maintained its stead and earned in the range of Rs 12-13 crore at the box office.

As cinema audiences in the United States were awaiting the latest “Star Wars” installment, Indian moviegoers were fixated on a different December 18 release: “Dilwale”, an action film that reunites Khan and Kajol on screen for the first time in five years.
But, no one is concentrating on it. SRK has done enough promotions of the movie, which is bearing fruits as reflected in the first day collections.
The film received generally negative reviews from critics who criticized the plot and felt that the film was driven exclusively by the ensemble cast. Areas like West Bengal which usually do not tend to perform at all also show good performance when it comes to Shah Rukh Khan movies. Later, at Salman’s sister Arpita Khan’s wedding and on SRK’s birthday their hug, became a hit. In this movie Shah Rukh Khan has dark past and now he is living with peace. Shah Rukh Khan who was recently embroiled in a controversy owing to his “intolerance” statement has irked some social activists who have made a decision to boycott the film in their region.
In the US, people have poured in large numbers to watch SRK-Kajol reunite on screen and “Dilwale” has secured the 9th position in the USA box office charts. The film follows life of Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I (Ranveer) with focus on his relationship with his love Mastani (Deepika). The total movie revolves around the love story between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Lets see will the movie break previous records and set a new record. It has collected Rs. 422 crores throughout the world.

With the first win under their belt, “Dilwale” moves forward in the race of Box Office collections against “Bajirao Mastani”.
