Bollywood veteran and BJP leader Hema Malini might be in thick soup after it has surfaced that was allotted land in Andheri for setting up a dance academy.

Malik said the government is going back on its own policy of taking back reserved plots allotted to various groups or organisations earlier, but now it has gone ahead and given a prime piece of open land reserved for a garden to Hema Malini. It has also not explained as to why the condition of securing 25% amount of total project cost with the government was not followed in this case, as mandated while allotting land.
RTI activist Anil Galgali has claimed the plot valued in crores is being given to BJP MP from Mathura Hema Malini for a mere Rs 70,000.
When Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse made the allotment on December 29, 2015, Hema had said how the matter had been buried in bureaucratic red tape for 20 years, but the new government expedited it in record time.
Ms Malini’s trust had initially demanded 1,741.89 sq m plot at Versova. But since a portion of that land was effected with CRZ regulations, she had not undertaken any construction on the land. The possession was given to the trust in April 4, 1997. State Congress President Ashok Chavan accused the BJP on Friday of violating rules.
“The government is indulging in double standards in allocation of the plot”.
“The government should take back the land”.

“It has been the tradition of Maharashtra to give land at nominal prices to those who run the institutions for purely cultural and academic purposes and non-commercial intentions”, he said.

To a question, state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said though the decision to change the reservation on the plot was taken during the Congress regime, the present BJP-led government could have reversed the decision.
