The “Tag Heuer Connected” teaser site shows that the luxury watchmaker is diving into the smartwatch market with an Android Wear device.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has signed an endorsement deal with Swiss luxury watch company Tag Heuer.

The Swiss brand’s new Carrera is sleek but sporty, something that Brady, who said the first nice watch he ever bought himself was a TAG, appreciates in an accessory.

The recently released invitation does have an image of the watch itself (above).

“When I looked at Tag Heuer, I found that we needed to connect the company to the future”, said Biver.

On the Connected’s new website, Tag describes the device as “tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology”.

It adds: “The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough”.

This smartwatch is the debut Android timepiece which is relying on Intel SoC rather than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset. Everything we can see there right now is a countdown timer, allowing users to register in order to receive the latest new about the Tag Heuer smartwatch. At that price, the Connected will be the most expensive Android Wear watch, followed by the Huawei Watch, which costs about $799 (£515) fully loaded.

Currently, the best variant of the Apple Watch Edition is priced at around $17,000, while the midlevel version retails at $1099. As it has been officially stated, the smartwatch developed by Tag Heuer and Intel will be somewhat based on the Carrera series of Tag Heuer watches that you can see below. We’re not yet sure what function it will have. And considering most smartwatches have insides that are bound to be obsolete in a few years, these $1,000+ wrist gadgets are quite the hard sell.

Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer has named professional NFL footballer Tom Brady its newest brand ambassador. If you head to Twitter, both Tag Heuer and Android are promoting the November launch.

Brady told People that he was especially fond of the campaign for the new watch (which he wore on a bright-blue rubber strap), “Don’t Crack Under Pressure”.
