Here’s what EpiPens will cost you

It rose to $284 this summer, according to Richard Evans, a health care analyst at SSR. “It’s a health care issue”.

“There’s still a really large balance remaining for the patient unfortunately on something that used to cost only $100”, said Lauren Cline, a pharmacist at the Drug Emporium. She has cut ties with the company that makes the emergency allergy treatment.

CNBC pointed out that the medication inside the pens costs just $1.

She called the price increase “outrageous”. Bresch made $2.4 million in 2007 and now brings in $18.9 million.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and members of Congress from both parties have quickly ramped up criticism of the price Mylan charges for the medicine. “I could not believe the cost of that EpiPen”, explained Kornrumph.

“We’d pass the savings that we take from the marketplace back to our plans”.

“Price is only one part of the problem that we are addressing with today’s actions”, Bresch said. These lifesaving devices are common in schools, and parents with children who might suffer severe allergic reactions carry EpiPens everywhere they go.

Durda said the savings will depend on your insurance company and the pharmacy that you use. Bresch specifically mentioned pharmacy benefit managers, along with wholesalers, as the intermediaries who have taken bigger cuts, adding to the price of the drug. “This current and ongoing shift has presented new challenges for consumers, and now they are bearing more of the cost” of the devices, the statement said.

Joining scores of people outraged over the price hike of the EpiPen, Sarah Jessica Parker will no longer be associated with the drugmaker who manufactures it. Shares of Express Scripts dropped 6 percent Thursday.

Even with insurance coverage, Kornrumph said she couldn’t afford the potentially life-saving drug.

“This isn’t about profit, it’s about doing the right thing and helping our neighbors in the communities we serve”, Medstore Director Bill Hepscher said.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter to Mylan demanding an explanation for the increase.

“As soon as you can meet, I’m there”, Bresch said she told the senators.

“I was recently involved in an initiative to raise awareness for anaphylaxis”, Parker wrote.

The maker of EpiPens said Thursday the company will offer a $300 discount for the life-saving allergy shot after patients and politicians complained of price-gouging when the cost of a prescription increased to $600 this year.
