As the world’s largest search engine, Google is an integral part of how we see and interpret life-so much so that the word “google” been a part of the Oxford English dictionary since 2006.

The most searched-for person in 2015 in the “Top Trending People in Current Affairs” list was Chai Yan Leung, daughter of Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, who shot to headlines most recently after she was filmed slapping her mother in Lan Kwai Fong on Halloween night.

Micromax-owned YU’s Yureka phone was the top searched smartphone of the year, while Apple’s iPhone 6S was a close second.

As we look back on 2015, the year coming to an end, it was not the best of years considering the major events that caught our attention. People within the country were concerned about safety and memorial events, asking “Who were the terrorists?” while also looking for information on “Pray for Paris” and the city’s curfew.

In sport, this year’s IPL led the way along with the ICC Cricket World Cup.

The overview of the year’s biggest trends curated by Google also includes Star Wars that took over the spotlight in the Internet in December, the Rugby World Cup in September and October, and the Federation Internationale de Football Association scam which was trending since April.
