It’s a bit of a confusing time for PlayStation owners but the powers that be want it to be clear that every single PS4 game is going to be playable no matter what console you have, it just might look better on the Pro hardware.
Last month, Sony dished out the details of its upcoming PlayStation 4 system software update version 4.00, codenamed “Shingen”. It will improve the user experience in many ways, one of them being an overhaul of the UI as well as Quick and Share Menus.
And for those who are planning to pick up the PS4 Pro, the update 4.0 has brought along with it a method that allows easy transfer of data. It is because Sony is now selling PlayStation 4 consoles at a discount ranging to as much as Rs. 5000.
Interestingly, the update isn’t exclusive to the PS4: improvements to the PS4 Pro are also included in Firmware 4.00, despite the console not being scheduled to launch until early November. They added new system backgrounds, refreshed system icons and revamped pop up notifications and drop down menus to make them clearer. The company’s music division, Sony Music Entertainment, revealed a new app created to work in tandem with the PSVR headset at Tokyo Game Show.
The menu introduces sShortcuts like create a party for players they are gaming with or send them messages, view trophies for the game they are now playing, check if friends are online, start Share Play or a broadcast of their gameplay, and control music playback.
Quick Menu: redesigned to cover only a portion of the screen. The What’s New menu now includes information about the activities of your friends. Through wired LAN connection, one will be able to get all their data from the PS4 and move it to the PS4 Pro. Moreover, the What’s New and Content Info Screens have been refined to display more useful options faster.
