Wayne Rooney’s special night ended falling flat, as Manchester United played out a drab goalless draw with his former club Everton.

Both Rooney and Ibrahimovic, who turn 31 and 35 respectively in October, started in Saturdays 5-2 friendly win over Galatasaray and both found themselves on the score sheet in their first audition for starting roles under Manchester United new boss Jose Mourinho.
“It was fairly shortly after I’d got rid of the idea of retiring and changed my mind, and I had to rethink about how we were going to take the club forward”, Ferguson told the official United programme for the testimonial game against Everton. “That’s not a problem”.
What he said: “We are 11 players not two players on the pitch”. That means all 1.7 billion of Facebook’s monthly active users were able to watch the game on Rooney’s and Manchester United’s Facebook pages. He works not only for himself but for the striker and the whole team. “I was just happy when the game kicked off and it was back to normality and playing with my team-mates!”

The England captain, who has scored 246 goals in 466 games since joining from Everton in August 2004, faces his old side on Wednesday. Neither side looked to make a significant impact in the first period, with the sides been reduced to half-chances.
Asked if it was a no-brainer to ask Everton to provide the opposition in his testimonial, Rooney says: “Yes, it was”.
If Manchester United, one of the world’s biggest clubs, signing Paul Pogba, one of the world’s most highly-rated midfielders, for a world record fee can become a snorefest, then what chance does any transfer have of being exciting? Top players are coming and going but he is still staying.

It’s good to hear from the forward, but we will have to wait and see what happens when the intensity of league is thrust upon him and his teammates.
