Ashland County Prosecutor Chris Tunnell said Wednesday he anticipates making a decision this afternoon about potential charges against Grate.

The charges against Grate allege he purposely caused the deaths of Stacey Stanley and a second victim who has not been identified.

MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say a woman reported being held captive, leading to the arrest of a kidnapping suspect, a murder confession and the discovery of three bodies.

According to a court official and records, Shawn M. Grate was convicted of domestic violence in 2010 in Crawford County and served 180 days in jail.

An anthropology doctor and students are at the crime scene recovering any evidence they can find inside the home and in the woods. He is now being held in Ashland County Jail.

Ashland Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation discovered two dead bodies in the home. LISTEN TO THE FULL 911 CALL (CAUTION: STRONG LANGUAGE USED IN CALL):Police entered the home to find two bodies inside and the 911 caller miraculously unharmed.

In the call, the woman explains she was able to partially free herself from her restraints enough to make her way to a phone.

The dispatcher in this case did all of that while remaining calm for almost 15 minutes before police were able to get to the woman.

One of the bodies has been identified as Stacey Stanley.

The home where that body was found, on Park Avenue, was destroyed in a suspicious fire in June, said Couch Page. The remains weren’t immediately identified. She said he had known him for about a month and a half.
