Hermine creates rough seas for cruise ships

As a result, numerous passengers reported feeling motion sickness. Tropical storm watches and warnings were in effect from Virginia to MA, with special concern focused on New Jersey and DE, where Rehoboth Beach could experience gusts up to 50 miles per hour and life-threatening storm surges during high tide late Sunday and into Monday.

The ship experienced very unsafe conditions in the Atlantic as one of the Royal Caribbean guests reported winds of 90 knots.

A North Carolina man who is now on a cruise ship that is stuck in the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine and battling high seas and winds over 100 miles per hour is furious with the cruise line.

Passenger Robert McHugh recorded a video of the storm, showing waves crashing into the Royal Caribbean ship.

After leaving Bayonne, New Jersey, on Friday on its way to Bermuda, it crossed paths with the storm, creating a harsh ride that left some passengers complaining.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, the New Jersey man said at one point Sunday, there were 40-50- foot swells in the ocean where Anthem was sailing. Biedermann, who is from Brick, New Jersey says that dishes were going “all over the place” in the restaurant on the boat. “We should have never sailed yesterday, this is simply ridiculous”. Hermine is expected to make a gradual north-northwest turn later Monday. “We’ll continue to shareweather information with our guests throughout their trip”, Royal Caribbean said in a statement.
