Hero dog saves 7-year-old girl from rattlesnake
But this German Shepherd, named “Haus”, is being hailed a hero after he showed bravery and came between a little girl who was playing with the dog in her yard when the reptile came slithering up and chose to join in on the fun.

According to the DeLucas, Haus was in the family’s backyard with Molly and her 75-year-old grandmother when the dog noticed the snake. But not even this stopped Haus. He’s been in the hospital since Wednesday, after he was bitten 3 times by a Diamondback Rattlesnake. They are also extremely loyal and make a great family dog. Despite her husband’s reservations, she said she “just couldn’t pass up the chance to rescue him”. Donya DeLuca rushed Haus to a local emergency vet shortly after the attack. This round-the-clock treatment is not the norm, but the German Shepherd received so much venom from the snake that his doctors felt this was the best course of action.
She added that she “absolutely” believes Haus was doing everything in his power to keep her family safe.
“I would nearly say it seems miraculous, based on the turnaround we had from last week”, Molly’s mother, Donya DeLuca, said of Haus’ recovery.

Antivenom is effective but very expensive. By the first day, the dog’s bill had already reached $10,000. People are now fundraising for the fearless dog to help cover his medical expenses. She asked those interested in helping Haus to instead assist Heidi’s Legacy Rescue, the organization the family adopted Haus from. “So he looked at me like, ‘Are you serious?’ But I just couldn’t pass up the chance to rescue him”. At last check, well over $45,000 from their GoFundMe page. The beloved German Shepherd is quite a trooper and will hopefully head home with his family once his urine is clear of some remaining red blood cells.
