HID Awolowo was prayer warrior -Granddaughter

In a statement signed by its Publicity SecretMeanwhile, a group operating under the aegis of Omo Oodua Yoruba Community in the 19 northern states and Abuja has called on the Federal Government to immortalise the deceased for her outstanding contributions to the peace and political development of the nation.

Awolowo-Dosunmu, a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Holland, said that the family was happy over the accolades her late mother had been receiving following her passage on Saturday afternoon.

“She was in high spirits before she left us and didn’t give us room to suspect the contrary as she kept praying for us”.

He said he enjoyed a personal and warm relationship with the Awolowos including the late matriarch, especially from his days in office at Dodan Barracks after a medical trip.

He said the late matriarch was there for everyone irrespective of political party, ideological persuasion, religion or tribe. “It was the first time any government was enjoying such kind of honour of a visit that was more personal than official”.

Meanwhile, Bauchi State governor Mohammed Abubakar has commiserated with the family of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, over the death of Chief H.I.D.

The statement said, “The PDP Governors Forum is saddened at the death of Chief (Mrs.) HID Awolowo, an amazon of extra ordinary courage, a worthy ally and confidante of the late Premier of the Western Region, Pa Obafemi Awolowo”.
