Hiddink Pleased With Striker-Less Chelsea’s Point
Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was left to rue his side’s inability to put away golden opportunities as they drew 0-0 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

“In this insane football world it can happen every day and also with me”, he said.
Van Gaal was happy on the whole with his team’s display. We created a lot of chances but didn’t manage to take one. They could see how much this meant for the players but it was a disappointing result because we dominated the game’.
“When the players can give such a performance with this lot of pressure then it is not any reason to resign”.
He added: “It’s for me not an interesting subject because I can not have any influence on that”.
‘Inside of the club the players are willing to fight for every metre, the manager is willing to fight, the members of staff are willing to fight and the board is very confident in the staff and the manager so it (the negativity) is not inside Manchester United’.
A few United fans made it clear they wanted Jose Mourinho in the home dugout, rather than Van Gaal.
Captain Wayne Rooney returned to the starting line-up and put on an impressive display, which was slightly tainted by a crude late challenge on Oscar which drew a yellow card from Martin Atkinson, but could have arguably been worse.
“Starting with Sunderland and Watford (against whom Chelsea drew 2-2) and now, the team knows what to do”.
The Dutchman’s only disappointment was with referee Martin Atkinson, who failed to award United two penalties.
“We had two penalty cases, one the foul on Mata, the other the handball of Willian”, Van Gaal said.
Manchester United plays Chelsea, Arsenal hosts Bournemouth and West Ham faces Southampton later Monday.
The best of the chances to which Hiddink referred fell to midfielder Nemanja Matic who ran clean through, but blazed his effort embarrassingly high over the bar when all he had to do was beat goalkeeper David De Gea in a one-on-one situation.
With Diego Costa suspended and Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao both injured, the Hiddink was forced to start with Eden Hazard as his side’s striker.
“I’m happy with the point because it was hard circumstances for us”, he told BT Sport after the game.
“As everyone knows we have some problems in our striker’s positions due to suspension and injuries so we have to think how to solve that problem, and we thought to do it with Hazard”, said Hiddink.
