Hidetaka Miyazaki: “Dark Souls is over”
The director of Dark Souls III, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has confirmed that the studio is now working on a new IP. If there is sufficient urgency from a subordinate to work on the IP, Dark Souls could find new life.

For the time being, try playing Dark Souls 3 or Dark Souls 2 online if you own a copy.
“But there’s absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs or tie-ins”, says Miyazaki. “But I can’t say for certain the possibility is zero percent”, he explained, stressing that what’s “certain for now” is that to him personally that Dark Souls is over.
During an interview with GGN Gamer (translated by NeoGAF users), Miyazaki confirmed a brand new game is on the way from From Software.
Currently, Bandai Namco has yet to announce its first Dark Souls 3 DLC expansion and players may miss the upcoming bosses on the DLC areas if they’ve started their New Game+ progress as early as now. Aside from the five stages of grief, we’ll have to go through withdrawal, keep lying to ourselves by replaying the previous games over and over again, and then shun the developers when they’ll start talking about their new titles.
The “Dark Souls 3” patch 1.06 update corrected some imbalances in the game, particularly the matching levels of weapons, as well as fixing the bugs.
Miyazaki showed interest in working on the Armored Core games, another popular From Software franchise.

So, it looks like the DLC packs (scheduled for Q3 2016 and 2017) will be the last Dark Souls action you’ll get for some time. “Personally I want to do it. After all I was involved in three games in the series”.
