Every journey has its end, even a journey as epic and harrowing as the “Souls” series, and in a new interview with Gamespot, we have confirmation from Hidetaka Miyazaki that “Dark Souls III” will indeed be the last step of the journey for the folks at From Software. Surely From Software can come up with another game that is just as soul-crushingly hard without using Souls. From Dark Souls II to the eventual Scholar of the First Sin remaster – not to mention the release of spiritual successor Bloodborne on PS4 – Miyazaki is wary of overexposure when it comes to the excruciatingly old-school template.
Director Hidetaki Miyazaki made this apparent when it spoke to GameSpot and talked about Dark Souls 3 offering a closure of sorts to the series.
“That’s not just limited to me, but From Software and myself together want to aggressively make new things in the future”, he continues. With an eye to the future I’m sure Miyazaki will bring other challenges to fans of his work, and the Dark Souls series.
Dark Souls III will show you a thousand gruesome deaths when it launches April 12, 2016.
The studio previously said that it wanted to make the combat more dynamic in Dark Souls 3, giving players more options to deal with enemies.
A new Ready Stance is being added to spice up the various engagements. The next title will be a game that was conceived while I was president.

He also reveals that he is enjoying playing Hearthstone from a purely mechanical point of view and is not now interested in playing Fallout 4 because his tastes gravitate more towards the fantasy setting of The Elder Scrolls.
