Officials at Denver Health told KDVR-TV that they had five patients; two are in critical condition, two are in serious condition and one is in fair condition. They’re investigating whether she suffered a medical condition.
The pickup truck driver was also taken to the hospital.
Investigators want to know why the driver circled back to DIA after picking up the team. The driver’s name and age have not been released.
The school district said a crisis response team will be at Legacy High School on Monday “supporting staff and students”.
“Really, our focus needs to be making sure our students and staff are cared for”, he said.
Officials say there were students aboard the bus at the time of the crash.
The school bus was transporting 20 children to Kathleen High School.
The driver of the school bus was cited for violation of right-of-way. The bus was one of three Adams 12 school buses that picked up Legacy students after they returned home from an out-of-state football game. Players on the bus were members of the varsity and junior varsity teams.
