San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke reportedly wants quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of San Francisco, but first-year head coach Chip Kelly wants to keep the former second-round pick, according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole.
“Whatever you believe, believe in to the utmost”. “There are things that in our country that can improve, and I don’t think that by acknowledging as a white male that America isn’t the same for me maybe as it is for everybody, the same great place, that we’re complicit in the problem or that we’re saying America isn’t a great place”.
After scoring the winning three-point shot Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors celebrates during the overtime period of a National Basketball Association game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on February 27, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. “I would support him 100 percent”, Spady said. “I’d rather have young people who are engaged in the argument and trying to think through how they can be part of our democratic process than people who are just sitting on the sidelines and not paying attention at all”. You have the luxury to do so. So, when I took to the airwaves for my weekly radio show Vantage Point on WBAI, 99.5 FM on the Pacifica Network in NY. The main issue that I have with this entire situation is mostly directed towards those who are only focusing on Kaepernick’s action to sit or kneel and not the message or cause of his action. As athletes, we have this huge platform.
It is time to stop focusing on Colin Kaepernick, and instead focus on the injustices that people of color are facing on a daily basis. Sometimes it may not be what you do, they like. Although, if you are someone like Kaepernick, doing these types of acts have a significance impact on our society. “I feel like everyone should stand up for what they believe”.
Kaepernick says his protest is not meant to offend, but to raise awareness of inequalities facing the black community in the United States, as well as tensions between police officers and minorities. Teammate Eric Reid joined him during the final exhibition game when the two made a decision to kneel, instead of sit, in a move meant to show more respect to veterans.
Kaepernick set off a firestorm of controversy when he refused to stand during the National Anthem prior to a preseason game last month. Players from various teams raised a fist either following or during the anthem.
