A coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for beaches in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Flooding is expected in coastal areas through South Florida from a king tide this week.

The sun and the moon will line up to bring high tides near 7 feet during the mid- to late morning hours through Friday.

Forecasters said the high tides were predicted to range up to 6.9 feet but observations showed they were exceeding that and could rise to near 7.5 feet. From nine to eleven o’clock on the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are when the conditions are expected to peak, putting these areas most at risk.

The Associated Press reports that the same storm system has been producing 25 to 30 foot waves along the northern shores of Hawaii since Wednesday.

A gale watch is in effect through Thursday night off the Channel Islands northwest of Los Angeles, with high wind gusts and 10- to 13-foot seas at times.

Coastal areas in Seal Beach and Sunset Beach will be especially susceptible to flooding.

Beach parking lots and adjacent streets were most likely to be impacted by any flooding, forecasters said.
