The five-time National Basketball Association champion last month announced his plans to retire at the end of the season, closing up a 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers travel to the Chesapeake Energy Arena to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Los Angeles coach Byron Scott said the Lakers looked “scared” and “intimidated” against Oklahoma City.
The 37-year-old Bryant dunked for the first time this season on Thursday night against the Houston Rockets.
Bryant said that his soreness did not begin with his highlight dunk against Houston Thursday, instead inferring that his four consecutive missed foul shots in that game helped tip him off to his ailment. He is averaging 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists a game this season for the Lakers, with career averages of 25.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals a game.
“We just had to stay focus and keep doing what we do every night”, Kanter said.
The Thunder have won seven in a row at home. Drexler may have been on his way out, but “Clyde the Glide” was an all-time great and clearly made an impression on Bryant. “We came in at halftime and coach (Billy Donovan) said we’ve got to still stick with our principles and still play the game the right way and I think we did a good job”.
Durant also admired how Bryant will end a 20-year career exclusively with the Lakers, something Durant may try to do with the Thunder.
It’s expected that he will be in Toronto in February for an 18th All Star jaunt with his fan voting likely to give him a starting spot.
Bryant warmed up for Sunday’s game amidst even more than the usual swarm of camera phones and flashes surrounding the court. However, more fun and entertaining to watch James Harden have a little scoring duel with the great Kobe Bryant.
“For me not to be voted in, I know it might sound hard to really process when I say I’m completely fine with that”.
The team has sold out all nine of its Staples Center games so far, a trend expected to continue after experiencing nine non-sellouts each of the last two seasons. “So I can understand their frustration, but at the same time I would hope they understand that the group of players on the floor, especially in crunch time, haven’t been there and haven’t done that”.
From the early moments of the first quarter, it was easy to tell that the Rockets tried to get Howard more involved in the offense.

Gasol, who also grabbed 12 rebounds, and Conley, who added eight assists, fueled a late run to push the Grizzlies’ lead to 14 in the closing minutes and keep the Pacers from putting together a comeback.
