Highlights Of The Nominations For The Emmy’s Of 2016
With a total 94 nominations, HBO, for the 16th consecutive year receives highest number of nominations among all other networks.

Sarah Paulson was nominated as best actress in a limited series for playing the lead prosecutor, Marcia Clark, and Courtney B. Vance was nominated for his performance as defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, who led Simpson’s “Dream Team” of lawyers in winning his acquittal.
“I’m traveling right now and there are a few shows I would love to be watching, but I don’t have cable, but I do have access to YouTube”, she said after the Emmy nominations were announced.
It also bagged nominations in the supporting actor category for Sterling K Brown, David Schwimmer and John Travolta.
Netflix’s women’s prison dramedy Orange is the New Black, a usual critical darling and previous best comedy nominee, was shut out of the major Emmy categories this year. So was “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson.
Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum started off Thursday’s ceremony noting that “television dominates the entertainment conversation and is enjoying the most spectacular run in its history with breakthrough creativity, emerging platforms and dynamic new opportunities for our industry’s storytellers”. In the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category, the heartbreaking The Door and the rousing The Battle of the Bastards were both nominated.
The fantasy epic of HBO which is about noble families who are competing for the control of the Iron Throne will be competing in 23 different categories, including the eminent award of outstanding drama series, for which Game of Thrones is nominated for the fifth successive year. Meanwhile, CBS’s The Good Wife, the last best hope for broadcast drama series, got neither a series nor a single acting nom – not for past victor Julianna Margulies, Alan Cumming or Christine Baranski – outside of guest mentions for Michael J. Fox and Carrie Preston.
The tremendously well-received “American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson” collected 22 nominations, while the second season of the equally acclaimed “Fargo” snared 18.
Aziz Ansari’s beautifully observed Master Of None was always expected to take one of the two Outstanding Comedy Series positions vacated by Parks and Recreation and Louie.
The ensemble cast of Game of Thrones found leading bids elusive. Peter Dinklage, named last year’s best supporting actor, will defend his title, with a nod also going to Kit Harington, who plays fan favorite Jon Snow.
Five-time best comedy victor “Modern Family” was once again nominated.
Idris Elba for Luther, Benedict Cumberbatch for and Tom Hiddleston for The Night Manager have received nods in the outstanding lead actor list.
Casting Director Carla Stronge was once again nominated in the outstanding casting for a drama category for her work on the programme.
