“Hike direct has been built on breakthrough technology that adds a whole new dimension to messaging enabling hikers to chat and share files with their friends without the Internet”.

It’s available on Android at present, and iOS as well as Windows will have to wait until next year for it. Hike Direct is based on Wi-Fi Direct technology, completely bypassing cellular networks while setting up a peer-to-peer connection between devices.
The transfers can happen directly with a speed of up to 40Mbps. “Data or no data, Hike will always work”, Kavin Mittal, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Hike Messenger, said here at the launch.
Global players such as Whatsapp and Skype also operate in this segment.
“The best part of the internet is that it is not at all regulated, else we can not come out with an update every 7.5 days…As long as we have that, we are fine”, Mittal said during an event to announce new features for the application.
Effectively, if you have to transfer 100MB of data, it would take less than 10 seconds on hike direct, without any data charges.
Mittal said on an average, a user on Hike spends over 140 minutes per week and 20 billion messages are being exchanged per month by the consumers. Incidentally, this feature is very similar to data sharing apps such as ShareIt, which also uses WiFi Direct to connect two devices wirelessly and send files.
As per reports, recently, Hike, Instant messaging platform launched a innovative feature named Hike Direct, which will permit the app to do their chatting task even without an Internet connection.

After that, you will be automatically paired up with the other phone, following which you can chat with your friends without internet. This is an indicator that Direct is active and you can send photos, apps, videos, contact details, or audio files to friends. Its possible that roll out of this new feature may be in the process right now.
