Hillary Clinton announces Sen. Tim Kaine as her running mate
Democracy for America executive director Charles Chamberlain said Clinton’s choice would present challenges for his group’s advocacy against Donald Trump.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has named Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her vice presidential running mate.
Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton made it official on Friday when she announced that Sen.
In contrast, Donald Trump picked a running mate from a red state that he was already going to win, who does not expand the appeal of the Republican ticket in any way.
In selecting the battleground of Florida to make her announcement, Clinton is hoping to seize the spotlight from Republicans after their convention in Cleveland. She then called President Barack Obama to inform him of the decision.
The American presidential election will be held on November 6th this year.
Kaine, 58, serves on the Senate’s Foreign Relations, Armed Services and Budget committees, where he has been both an ally and a critic of the White House in the war on the Islamic State.
Kaine beat out a host of other Democrats who had been on Clinton’s shortlist including Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, HUD Secretary Julian Castro, Labor Secretary Thomas Perez and U.S. Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey and Elizabeth Warren of MA. Kaine was also chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Asked whether Kaine was boring, Clinton said, “I love that about him”.
“He offered a lot of fear and anger and resentment, but no solutions about anything that he even talked about”, Clinton countered during a speech to supporters Friday in Tampa, Fla., before the VP announcement.
The campaign had sent an email urging supporters to sign up to get the information before anyone else. “Ted, stay home”, Trump said, dismissing any interest in an endorsement the Texas senator refuses to provide. This major development for the Democratic party comes mere days before its quadrennial national convention and just one day after the Republican National Convention.
He said the fact that Kaine speaks Spanish fluently is something that he expects will be well-received in the Latino community and is also historic.
Kaine’s position on housing falls right in line with the platform that describes its intentions as defending and strengthening the Fair Housing Act and ensuring that regulators have the clear direction, resources, and authority to enforce those rules effectively. Kaine, a Roman Catholic, was a missionary in Honduras.

His wife, Anne Holton, serves as Virginia’s Secretary of Education. The couple has three children. Many progressives had called for Massachusetts Sen. “You could sit next to him on a cross-country flight, and he would never tell you that he was a Virginia governor or a USA senator”. Kaine has been rumored to be one of Clinton’s possible vice president choices. I want a vice president who can be my partner in bringing this country together. But the Clinton campaign adroitly launched a trial balloon earlier this week by leaking that Bill Clinton supported Kaine’s selection.
