The DNC rules committee member spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of internal party affairs.
Clinton and Kaine are being greeted by cheers from a boisterous Miami crowd in the crucial battleground state of Florida.
The newly minted Democratic ticket will begin the trip with a joint rally at Philadelphia’s Independence Mall and then head east for stops planned Friday and Saturday in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, according to a Clinton aide.
Citing Republican nominee Donald Trump’s favorite shorthand for Clinton – “Crooked Hillary” – or a preferred chant among Republican convention-attendees (“lock her up”), Kaine called such language “ridiculous” and said she’d admirably let the “water go off her back on this”.
“He’s a lifelong progressive, someone who has two decades of bringing people together and getting results”.
“While Hillary Clinton would be a disaster as president, I have high regard and respect for Tim Kaine”, Mr Toomey said in a written statement. “Crazy Bernie’s going insane right now”, he said.
But convention delegates pledged to Vermont Sen. Sanders’ supporters say they are concerned that Kaine is not progressive enough.
Senator Tim Kaine, center, with his wife Anne Holton, answers questions after attending Mass at their church, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Richmond, Va., July 24, 2016.
She said “you have helped shape us” and that she and her husband “will really need your prayers”. Tim Kaine as her running mate.
After staying mum for a couple of days, Sanders, the runner-up in the Democratic primaries, weighed in during Sunday talk show appearances, calling Kaine “very, very smart” and “a very nice guy”. “They don’t look presidential to me!”
“I’m not shocked, but I’m disappointed” by the exchanges in the emails, Sanders told ABC’s “This Week”.
In one leaked email, a DNC official wondered whether Sanders’ religious beliefs could be used against him, questioning whether the candidate may be an atheist.
The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, announced abruptly Sunday afternoon that she would step down at week’s end.
And she says there will be more answers than Donald Trump had in his speech Thursday night. The Virginia senator had been notably more centrist on issues like trade and energy, compared to Sanders or Warren, who was the most popular pick among Clinton supporters, polls showed.
And on the eve of its convention, a major controversy brewing for the dnc.

Much of Monday’s program appeared aimed at giving Sanders’ backers an opportunity to express their frustration before the convention moved on to focus on speakers who strongly support Clinton, such as first lady Michelle Obama.
