Hillary Clinton calls in new ad for action on guns
Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Tuesday to make stricter gun control into a campaign that can compete with the powerful National Rifle Association’s drive to preserve gun rights, and to put the issue on the minds of voters when they cast ballots on Election Day.

The ad uses footage from an October 5 town hall in Manchester, New Hampshire, where Clinton said she would pursue expanded background checks and take steps to hold manufacturers accountable for crimes committed with their weapons.
Speaking at a town-hall-style event, Clinton said gun violence affects urban, suburban and rural areas.
America Rising, the Republican super PAC that opposes Clinton, pointed out a Politico story that notes that Clinton “was largely silent” on gun control when she ran in 2008.
But when the topic came up at the CNN debate last month, Sanders declared “the American people are sick and exhausted of hearing about your damn emails!” “Why on earth would you gift that to anybody?” We even expect them to appear on television and tell jokes, or sing or even (in the case of Sanders) dance with Ellen DeGeneres, to prove that they can be good sports amid indignity.
“I want to encourage more communities if they can afford to go higher but if not $12 will give us a good solid increase and it will bring us back to the historic high was”, she said. “Senator Sanders has always supported the assault weapons ban, background checks, and closing the gun show loophole. Before we come together as a nation?”
The 30-second ad is part of an already-announced buy in Iowa and New Hampshire, the first two states in the Democratic primary.
Hillary Clinton on Tuesday stated in her most clear language yet that she supports a $12 an hour minimum wage, which falls short of the level sought by many labor unions but is higher than the one favored by President Obama. “Women of color are 23 percent of minimum wage workers, compared to 16 percent of all workers”.
Farrington’s death was mentioned by Shelly Kerr, a Coralville mother who introduced Clinton to a crowd her campaign estimated to be 500 supporters at S.T. Morrison Park.
“Yes, sir, in the blue shirt”, Clinton said, calling on a man in the audience.

As Iowa’s January primary caucus approaches, the leading candidates in the Democratic primary are staking out more nuanced positions on something near and dear to Iowa politics: genetically engineered crops such as corn and soy.
