Hillary Clinton clinches Democratic nomination
Some have gone further, and contend this is a clear effort to deter Sanders supporters from going to the polls on June 7, when six Democratic primary contests occur, including in the crucial states of California and New Jersey. North Dakota will also hold a caucus on Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager says there will be a Democratic presidential nominee on Wednesday after a handful of states vote on Tuesday, while commending Sen.
Hillary Clinton has secured enough delegates to win the Democratic presidential nomination, according to USA media outlets, but her campaign urged supporters to get to the polls on Tuesday to avoid a loss to Bernie Sanders in California as she seeks to unite the party.
A former USA secretary of state, Clinton would be the first woman presidential candidate of a major US political party.
As the presumptive nominee, Clinton is in line to be the first woman in US history to secure the nomination from either party.
The Vermont senator echoed that deflection when asked about the call by reporters later on Monday: “I have spoken to President Obama many many times about many issues”. Oh yeah, Bernie Sanders, the guy nobody expected to be in it this long and who held an incredible party changing campaign, isn’t prepared to bow out to the party’s presumptive nominee. What’s more, Obama then led among pledged delegates even when superdelegates weren’t included in the total count.
But the Sanders campaign was not ready to back down Monday night.
She also has the support of 571 superdelegates, according to the Associated Press count. They are not due to formally cast their votes until the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.
The watershed moment all but concludes a bruising Democratic primary battle and allows Mrs Clinton to pivot towards the five-month general election campaign against the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.
‘I’m a voter in California, and I have voted for Hillary Clinton for President of the United States and proud to endorse her for that position, ‘ Pelosi said.
Despite his losses in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands this weekend, Sanders still shows no sign of backing down.
Clinton is taking the news well on Twitter but isn’t resting easy yet.
“We have six elections tomorrow and are going to fight hard for every single vote, especially right here in California”.
The reason NPR includes superdelegates in our count, which comes to us via the AP, either for Clinton or Sanders is because these officials have publicly pledged their support to one or the other candidate.

Sanders has racked up big primary and caucus victories with his anti-establishment message energizing young voters and those feeling left out of government and left behind in the economic recovery. Sanders has said he will fight to the end for the nomination.
