Hillary Clinton diagnosed with pneumonia, Trump extends well wishes
Clinton has been suffering from pneumonia and “became overheated and dehydrated” during a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in NY on Sunday, but is ‘recovering nicely, ‘ her doctor said.

The incident occurred just days after Republicans argued that moments when Clinton coughed along the campaign trail were signs of a more serious health issue.
In hindsight, her doctor’s explanation – after a drama that overshadowed what has become the most solemn, emotion-charged event on the NY calendar – sounded so simple and innocent.
To which The Washington Post’s resident satirist Alexandra Petri suggests that Clinton should get the George Washington presidential look – “Lose all but one of your teeth – replace them with an elaborate contraption containing hippopotamus ivory, brass screws and human teeth so that you look slightly uncomfortable all the time”.
An ill Hillary Clinton abruptly left a 9/11 anniversary ceremony Sunday and needed to be held up by three people before she appeared to stumble off a curb and was helped into a van.
In December 2013, the former first lady had to be rushed to New York’s Presbyterian Hospital after a medical scare following a fainting spell and concussion.
Some became outraged at the scene of pneumonia-stricken Clinton talking with and hugging a little girl seen approaching the candidate during her “I’m feeling great” announcement. She was set to appear at events in both San Francisco and Los Angeles on Monday and Tuesday, and a rally in Las Vegas on Wednesday, but her campaign has said that her schedule is now under discussion.
Hillary Clinton’s San Francisco fundraiser Monday will continue with Clinton teleconferencing into the event, donors were told last night, a last-minute fix after the Democratic nominee canceled her trip to California this week because of a pneumonia diagnosis.
Clinton was advised in 1998 to take blood-thinning medications to prevent deep vein thrombosis blood clots when she traveled on long-distance flights, Bardack wrote.
Clinton’s illness opened a new conversation about her health as she enters the final and busiest stretch of campaigning before the November 8 election.
Trump, 70, has said Clinton is “not strong enough to be president” and that she “lacks the mental and physical stamina” for the job. He called it “akin to predicting an influenza epidemic based [on] a candidate’s sneezing”. A video posted online appeared to show the 68-year-old wobbling on her feet as she was helped into a van to be taken to her daughter’s NY apartment.
Democratic Representative Joe Crowley of NY, a Clinton supporter who attended the event, told MSNBC television that it was “stifling” during the ceremony.
Naturally, to embrace this narrative, Trump and his Republican cohorts have to totally ignore the fact that only a few days ago they were sending themselves into a tizzy pointing out a coughing fit that Clinton was having during a speech.
Clinton tried to make light of that event. I just saw the secretary waiting for the van, and the van came, and she (couldn’t) walk inside, and she (got) helped. Context matters. A coughing episode is nearly always just a coughing episode.
It noted that her campaign past year had released a summary of Clinton’s medical records and conditions.
Now Ms Clinton is sure to face new questions about whether she is physically fit for the presidency.
“We really haven’t gotten very much, essentially a letter from her doctor”, he told CNN, but added that Trump should be held to the same requirement.
Jackson said Sunday’s incident will be “instructive” for the campaign and should encourage more transparency from the Clinton camp about her health.
That strategy could be in jeopardy if Clinton follows her doctor’s recommendation to “rest and modify her schedule”.
Clinton had surgery in 2012 for a blood clot, although her doctors say she made a full recovery. She was later found to have a clot and double vision, causing her to wear special eyeglasses.

He declined to say anything Sunday, keeping a pledge not to campaign on the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. Last year Trump released a letter from his doctor that contained even less information than Clinton’s and was widely mocked for making unsubstantiated claims. “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual elected to the presidency”, Bornstein wrote past year.
