Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump spar over who is more LGBT-friendly

Democratic President Barack Obama denounced Donald Trump for his proposed U.S. ban on Muslim immigrants on Tuesday, joining Hillary Clinton in portraying the Republican presidential candidate as unfit for the White House.

Trump, the Republican presidential hopeful, reiterated his call for a ban on Muslims entering the USA, implied Muslim Americans knew in advance about terrorist attacks, and called on the U.S. president to resign over Orlando.

The Florida attack, in which a gunman killed 49 people at a gay nightclub and wounded 53, could have a lingering impact on the presidential race, mixing concerns about immigration, gun violence and religious tolerance into what has already been a volatile and decidedly negative campaign season. “Where does this stop?” Trump professed support for law-abiding Muslim Americans, but said that if they didn’t report on “bad” people within their midst, “these people have to have consequences, big consequences”. “Not once has an adviser of mine said, ‘man, if we really use that phrase, we’re going to turn this whole thing around.’ Not once”. That’s the key they tell us.

Barron – who blogger JoeMyGod points out has previously declined to endorse LGBT hate crime legislation and refers to gay left-wingers as “the American Taliban” – declared Trump the “most pro-gay Republican nominee ever”.

“It will be lifted.when we’re in a position to properly and perfectly screen these people coming into our country.

Nobody knew. He’s trying to justify why he won’t use it and he said radical Islam because he didn’t want to use the word terrorism”, he said.

Obama is questioning what the label would accomplish and says that calling a threat by a different name doesn’t make it go away. It is a political talking point.

Obama correctly warns that “If we fall into the trap of painting all Muslims with a broad brush and implying that we are at war with an entire religion, then we are doing the terrorist’s work for them”.

Obama commented after meeting with his national security advisers on the threat posed by IS. “I and others have long warned that the failure of the President’s policy to deny [Isis] safe haven would allow the terrorist organization to inspire, plan, direct or conduct attacks on the United States and Europe as they have done in Paris, Brussels, San Bernardino, and now Orlando”. Obama said in a tone that moved from scolding to mocking.

“LGBT is starting to like Donald Trump very much lately, I will tell you, starting to like Donald Trump very, very much lately”, Trump said during a rally in Dallas.
