“For Hillary Clinton to literally say that millions of Americans are irredeemable, I think what you saw there in a prepared speech [was] the worst statement I have ever heard by a national candidate in my lifetime”, Pence told Baier. “It is our intention in the next couple of days – we will be releasing more medical information”.

Hillary’s team revealed she was diagnosed with pneumonia on September 9, but still continued with numerous campaign appearances.

Mr Trump also said he had a physical last week and will release detailed health information when he gets the results, which are expected in coming days. Somebody should have known it would give Donald Trump a major advantage.

Trump, at 70, would be the oldest person to assume the presidency if he gets elected. Clinton, 68, would be the second oldest, after Ronald Reagan.

However, the news of Clinton’s illness has renewed criticism about a perceived lack of transparency.

Mr Trump and his supporters have hinted at Mrs Clinton’s potential health issues for months, questioning her energy when she takes routine days off the campaign trail and reviving questions about a concussion she sustained in 2012 after fainting.

Hillary Clinton on Monday sought to control the fallout from a media swirl around her health after she wobbled away from a 9/11 ceremony and her campaign said she had pneumonia.

Clinton, who has said she is the candidate to unify a divided country, made the “deplorables” comment at a fundraiser Friday night in NY.

Clinton unexpectedly left Sunday’s 9/11 anniversary ceremony in NY after feeling “overheated”.

“I probably would have been better off if I had just pulled down my schedule Friday”, Mrs. Clinton said. And, you know, it’s just so – it’s so unusual that with all of that information out there, and as soon as it became clear I couldn’t power through, we, you know, we said what was going on.

“I just didn’t think it was going to be that big a deal”, Clinton said in a phone interview with CNN. “We have to see what’s wrong”.

Clinton cancelled a West Coast trip scheduled for early this week due to her pneumonia diagnosis.

Some Democrats were also critical of the Clinton campaign’s handling of the situation. “Antibiotics can take care of pneumonia. What s the cure for an unhealthy penchant for privacy that repeatedly creates unnecessary problems?” asked David Axelrod, a former White House aide to Barack Obama, on Twitter. “We’re going to make history here in IL by bringing home the first president that is a woman who comes from our great state”, said Kim Foxx, a candidate for Cook County State’s Attorney.
