Hillary Clinton gains 10 points in first post-convention poll

Criticizing Sanders (I-Vt.) might not be the best way to win over his backers, but Trump is clearly attempting to channel the frustrations they felt throughout the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, where the senator’s defeat to Hillary Clinton became absolutely, irreversibly official.

The first woman to lead a major USA political party toward the White House, Clinton was greeted by a crowd of cheering delegates eager to see history made in the November election. Pop star and long-time Hillary supporter Katy Perry serenaded the crowd, and Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, gave a moving introduction of her mother.

“And I would like to congratulate my opponent for having gotten more votes than anybody in the history of the Republican Party in the primary season”, Trump said imitating his Democratic rival.

Thursday night Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for president. Still 25% refused to elect neither Trump nor Clinton.

“He wants us to fear the future and fear each other”. “But I’m here to tell you tonight, progress is possible”.

Clinton, 68, will lay out her campaign message to Americans as she accepts the nomination to run against Republican Donald Trump in the November 8 election.

In her vision for the next four years, Clinton promised to “create more opportunity and more good jobs” throughout the country.

Charlotte, Chelsea’s two-year-old daughter “loves FaceTiming with grandma”, she said.

She also addressed the notion that she wants to infringe upon the Second Amendment. “I’ve heard you. Your cause is our cause”.

At a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Trump said he was being criticised at the Democratic convention by people who had been friendly to him before.

Mrs Clinton, 68, is tasked with both laying out her plans to seal Mr Obama’s legacy while also convincing voters to support her after facing low approval ratings. And to all of your supporters here and around the country: I want you to know, I’ve heard you.

Throughout the convention, Democrats tried to convey the stakes of the election not only to Sanders backers but Republicans concerned about Trump’s bombastic tone and foreign policy positions.

Late on Thursday night, Clinton knocked it out of sight as she addressed 30 million people in the biggest speech of her career.

And in a bold admission for a candidate seeking to build on Obama’s policies, she said the economy “is not yet working the way it should”.

“We will rise to the challenge just as we always have”, she said.

Clinton referenced the historic nature of her candidacy, saying “when any barrier falls in America, it clears the way for everyone”.

In her acceptance speech, Clinton praised Sanders for his campaign, its appeal to young people and its call for economic and social justice.

“Instead, help Donald Trump hold her accountable, call out her lies and fight back against her nasty attacks”. “Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart. They don’t tell you why”, Clinton said. “Millions of Democrats will join our movement, because we are going to fix the system so it works fairly, and justly, for each and every American”.
