Hillary Clinton has pneumonia, doctor says after episode at 9/11 memorial

Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Sunday she had been diagnosed with pneumonia and would cancel a planned two-day swing through California, hours after the Democratic presidential nominee abruptly left a 9/11 memorial ceremony in NY for what her aides described as her feeling “overheated”.

Rumors about Clinton’s health have been persistent, but her campaign earlier released a statement from her doctor saying she is in “excellent health”.

Outside of the campaigns spin doctors, a law enforcement source told Fox News that Clinton left the ceremony early “due to a medical episode”. Her campaign said later the Democratic presidential nominee was “feeling much better”. “On Friday, during a follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia”, Dr. Lisa Bardack said in a written statement.

Bardack said Clinton had an examination at her home in Chappaqua after the incident.

The delay in disclosing the pneumonia diagnosis and the silence from the campaign immediately after Clinton left the September 11 commemoration “lets everyone fill the holes themselves, ” said Jennifer Loven, managing director of the strategic communications firm Glover Park Group in Washington and a former president of the White House Correspondents’ Association.

“She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule”, it went on.

Hillary Clinton has cancelled a trip to the West Coast after she was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Her doctor said Ms Clinton had become overheated and dehydrated at the event in lower Manhattan. Assessing some of Mr. Trump’s voters at a fundraiser, Mrs. Clinton said about half fall into what she called “the basket of deplorables”.

While Trump uncharacteristically refrained from commenting, the image of her nearly falling to the ground on the way to the auto – captured on an amateur video – is certain to give a broader voice to questions about her health and how candid she has been about it.

Still, the episode focused attention on Clinton’s health with eight weeks remaining in a contentious election in which Republican rival Donald Trump has sought to sow doubt about her health and fitness to serve. Merrill said that Clinton attended “to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen”.

She suffered a concussion and a subsequent blood clot in the brain, which later testing showed to have cleared completely. She later said she regretted using the word “half”.

“Based on her doctor’s advice, she could only work at State for a few hours a day and could not recall every briefing she received”, the Federal Bureau of Investigation wrote in notes publicly disclosed this month. “She exercises regularly, including yoga, swimming, walking and weight training”.

-She had full cardiac testing, including an ultrasound exam of arteries in her neck, and all was well.

“There are a lot of people who are very, very ill with lung disease who will see at least 10 years taken from their normal life span”, he said, “and we are already seeing many more premature deaths occurring, and among younger people, from the cancers”.

Clinton and Trump are two of the oldest major party nominees for president ever.

At 69, Ronald Reagan was the oldest person to be elected president when he won in 1980.

Bardack said testing the following year showed “complete resolution” of the concussion’s effects, including double vision, for which Clinton wore glasses with specialized lenses to address. They had her examined and put out a statement.

The Democratic nominee traveled to her daughter’s nearby apartment and the campaign initially said she felt “overheated”.

Clinton emerged before noon.
