Kaine – who’s previously served as Virginia’s lieutenant governor and governor and is now a member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee – reportedly garnered Bill Clinton’s support through the strength of his domestic and global security experience.

Kaine criticized Trump’s recent suggestion he might not honor US security commitments to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in Europe, and the real estate mogul’s history of casino bankruptcies and founding the failed Trump University.

They said Mrs Clinton was trying to win the election by simply not being Donald Trump. “He leaves a trail of broken promises and wrecked lives wherever he goes”.

Clinton, in beginning her remarks, looked at the crowd and said it was “like a breath of fresh air” after watching the GOP convention in Cleveland. “What a novel concept”.

Campaigning in North Carolina, Trump seemed to revel in the Democrats’ commotion, telling supporters that Clinton made a mistake by not choosing a more liberal running mate to appease Sanders’ base.

Sen. Tim Kaine returned to his longtime parish Sunday to re-energize his faith, sing solo with the gospel choir, and ask for prayers as he’s launched into the national spotlight as Hillary Clinton’s running mate.

Progressive Change Campaign Committee co-founder Stephanie Taylor said in a statement that some of Kaine’s pro-free trade positions gave “Republicans now have a new opening to attack Democrats on this economic populist issue” that Republican nominee Donald Trump has also been vocally opposed to. ISIS and our other enemies are drooling.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said Sunday on Meet The Press that he would have preferred Hillary Clinton select left-wing Sen. But he could help her in attracting disaffected Republicans and independents turned off by Trump.

At the same time, Sanders qualified the praise by adding that Kaine is “More conservative than I am”.

He said Kaine’s church will continue to pray for him and stand behind him and his family.

“Welcome to everyone, in our country, because we’re all Americans”, he said. The group conducted a survey of some delegates 10 days ago, in which some 88.1 percent said Kaine would be a “not acceptable” choice. “So normal. He just fits right in and belongs here”, Rosalie Robinson said. But to do that, she must overcome lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and a political mess and last-minute leadership shake-up of the party’s own making. A spokeswoman for Kaine confirmed his opposition to the pact. Tim Kaine of Virginia to be her running mate. Elizabeth Warren of MA and Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Hispanic Cabinet members Julian Castro and Thomas Perez.

A former mayor as well governor, Kaine is an experienced politician and has been thoroughly vetted. She also described him in a way she’s previously characterized herself, as “a progressive who likes to get things done”.

But President Barack Obama has told the campaign he believes Kaine would be a strong choice, according to a Democratic familiar with the search who was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

Behind the scenes, Sanders and Clinton aides joined forces to try to ease tensions.
