Mr Sanders is not necessarily unpopular among Democrats, but the long-time political independent and self-proclaimed democratic socialist is still not well known – a third said they did not know enough about him to have an opinion.

Among Democrats, Clinton’s debate win was more pronounced.

If you think I’m referring to the most recent Republican debate, you are wrong.

Moreover, when Clinton was forced to defend her tendency to flip positions on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, all we heard from other candidates was silence, even though Sanders has been one of the most vocal critics of the trade deal. In response, I think Sanders avoided clashing with the concepts that Clinton pushed.

“Joe Biden should stay on the sidelines, he’s better that way”, said Alonzon McClendon, a 57-year-old warehouse manager in Dallas, Texas. It also didn’t answer the argument why the American people should vote for Sanders over Clinton.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the first CNN Democratic national debate Tuesday night in Las Vegas. If he were to decide not to run, the poll indicates that much of his current support would go to Clinton rather than Sanders.

“If he does perform well in those first couple of primaries, he’s really going to push Hillary Clinton and the whole party really, toward the left”, Bai said.

Vice President Biden lags well behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Clinton now stands at 54 percent, Sanders at 23 percent and Biden at 16 percent. On that question, Clinton’s strength grows among those who watched: 77% in that group say they trust her most to handle foreign policy, up from 66% among Democratic voters overall.

But if Clinton doesn’t implode, Biden can run a fairly anodyne, positive campaign that is tantamount to basically a farewell tour.

A new WBUR survey, conducted Thursday through Sunday (topline, crosstabs), finds the two have swapped places, with Clinton leapfrogging Sanders by 4 points among likely Democratic primary voters.

When surveying the candidates’ favorability rating, the previous leader, Clinton, slipped from 80 percent in August, down to 74 percent. “I’m sure his people would not say that”. “Clinton is experienced. She’s qualified”. The error margin is plus or minus six points among the sample of 352 Democratic-leaning registered voters.
