Hillary Clinton Introduces Running Mate Tim Kaine, Hints More Optimistic DNC

Tim Kaine made his first appearance on the campaign trail as Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate on Saturday, urging Democrats to make history by putting Clinton in the White House and leaping to attack Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s record. The presumptive nominee said she had “no doubt” that Kaine was qualified to be her vice president, telling the campaign crowd that behind Kaine’s smile is a “backbone of steel”.

Both said Clinton’s choice of Tim Kaine make it harder to vote for her. Shortly after Clinton announced her running mate on Twitter on Friday, Republican Sen.

Another benefit with Kaine is that he speaks Spanish.

“If she’s hoping to reach out to her own fractured Democratic Party, I don’t know that Tim Kaine solves that problem for her”, said Brian Westrate, with the Republican Party of the 3rd Congressional District.

Clinton and Kaine will be officially nominated this week at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“He’s not only wrong”. While he’s reportedly told Mrs. Clinton privately that he opposes the deal in its current form, liberal leaders believe his positions raise serious questions.

However, the timing – at the end of the Republican National Convention – was created to shift focus from Donald Trump back to Democrats as they begin gathering for their own convention in Philadelphia, where Mrs Clinton will become the party’s official presidential candidate. His selection completes the line-up for the general election, in which Clinton and Kaine will face off against Trump and Pence.

From the start, Kaine was a front-runner to join Clinton on the Democratic ticket.

Before Kaine became a senator of Virginia, he served as governor of the state as well as mayor of Richmond and chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Kaine’s former Senate press secretary, Sarah Peck, is already working as Clinton’s Virginia campaign spokeswoman.

“Trying to count the ways I hate (at) timkaine”, Arizona Sen. “Drawing a blank. Congrats to a good man and a good friend”, he tweeted. She is standard-bearer for a diverse and inclusive Democratic coalition that is much larger than herself, much larger than Barack Obama or any other single person. Unlike the Trump/Pence debacle of a week earlier, Clinton made the rally all about talking up the character, record, and accomplishments of her running mate.

Tim Kaine, the senator and former governor of Virgina selected as Hillary Clinton’s running mate, goes further: “I’m boring”, he once said in a TV interview.

Kaine, 58, was born in Kansas and learned Spanish in Honduras, where he spent a year as a Jesuit missionary.

Frank said if Clinton could win the majority of the battleground states, like North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and OH, she could take the election. The couple has three adult children, including a son, Nat, a Marine who is going on a deployment on Monday, aides said.

They appeared together before a rapturous student audience in Miami yesterday (Saturday) where Mrs Clinton contrasted his experience with that of Mr Trump’s vice-presidential pick. He spoke to the crowd in Spanish multiple times throughout his speech.

“Do you want a “you’re fired” president or a “you’re hired” president?”

But the pick of the Virginia senator came as no surprise for WEAU 13’s political analyst John Frank.
