2008: “Everything I learned in my eight years as president and in the work I’ve done since. has convinced me that Barack Obama is the man for this job”, Clinton said.

The star turn in Philadelphia on Tuesday will be the traditional warm spousal endorsement – with the twist that it will be a former president making the case for his wife. It makes for a remarkable contrast: a career politician and the first woman candidate against a bombastic outsider who has never been afraid to trade in sexist clichés.

Deborah Armstrong, of Spokane, Washington, said she and her husband went bankrupt because of his health problems, which required a heart transplant.

He also spoke in deeply personal terms of the early days of their relationship. “I was 11”, Amaru said.

After President Obama was shown on screen, Hillary Clinton appeared on the screens via a live feed from NY.

Escobar said he is exhausted of seeing Democratic candidates like Clinton move the party away from the left. Connecticut Democrats are represented by 28 delegates pledged for Clinton, 27 for Sanders as well as 16 more “superdelegates” who are all expected to vote for Clinton.

Democrat Hillary Clinton has become the first woman in USA history to be nominated for president by any major party.

Former US president Bill Clinton listens during Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, July 25, 2016.

“Yes, we do break barriers – I broke a barrier when I became the first Democratic woman elected to the Senate in her own right”, Ms Mikulski said.

“It’s beyond thrilling. It’s very exciting and to see at the end she’s the nominee. It’s going to be spectacular”, Pelosi told CNN’s Dana Bash.

Clinton’s name was entered into nomination by Maryland Sen.

The roll call this year, when each state announces its delegate totals from the primary season, will affirm a nomination Clinton locked up weeks ago.

With all eyes on the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Tuesday will be an evening of the Clintons, both Bill and Hillary.

But not all Sanders delegates are buying that message. Much of the convention’s second night will be devoted to introducing voters to Clinton anew, including three hours of speakers who will highlight issues she has championed for years, including health care and advocacy for children and families. The Clinton campaign blamed the leak on Russian hackers whom it said were bent on helping Republican nominee Donald Trump. Her political career began as a social activist in the late ’60s.

Clinton has one big advantage over Trump heading into November: hindsight. Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, got married and gave birth to two children. Clinton has been a fixture in American politics for more than 25 years.

Clinton will officially accept the nomination on Thursday.

“We must defeat the worst Republican candidate in the modern history of this country”, he said.
