Trump is already far behind Clinton in fundraising, and is planning to spend almost $5 million for TV ads in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that of that amount, $980,000 is set aside for Pennsylvania.
U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton delivers remarks at a gathering of law enforcement leaders at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NY, U.S., August 18, 2016. The Clinton campaign and its main super PAC, Priorities USA, have spent at least $104 million on TV advertising so far.
In the first ad the campaign released, Trump and Clinton are contrasted on immigration, border security, and Syrian refugees. As we and many other news outlets have previously reported, Trump and Clinton are the most unliked presidential candidates in recent history.
“In Hillary Clinton’s America, the system stays rigged against Americans”, intones a narrator.
The ad itself can be viewed below.
As the ad shifts to Trump, the message takes an upbeat and positive tone.
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (CNN) – Donald Trump, in a remarkable break with his characteristically unapologetic style, acknowledged Thursday that he has sometimes said “the wrong thing” and said he regretted some of his controversial statements. The Trump campaign had prepared to launch the spot after the Olympics, which ends Sunday.
Long doubting the efficacy of television ads, Donald Trump is finally ceding to this one measure of political gravity, airing his first ad of the general election. Together, the campaign and the groups are slated to air $7.9 million in television advertisements in those four states over the two-week period.
In a four-way race, the Democratic nominee’s numbers fell to 45 percent, and Trump’s numbers fell to 37 percent.
Being fairly intelligent people, I doubt that the Clintons would use such a clumsy method of vote rigging if that were their intent.
Donald Trump is spinning himself in circles.
The commercial will run in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania until August 29, NBC News reported.
