Hillary Clinton Made History Last Night

Trump’s own acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention clocked in at around 75 minutes.

Clinton and Kaine were unexpectedly joined for the rally at Temple University by their spouses, former President Bill Clinton and Anne Holton, who previously served as state education secretary in Virginia. The shoot-from-the-hip billionaire believes he can make headway in those states with blue-collar white men, a demographic that has eluded Clinton and was unlikely to be swayed by a convention that heavily celebrated racial and gender diversity. “Same old stuff, our country needs change!”

“I stayed up really late last night”. In a tweet he revealed he was talking about former NY mayor Michael Bloomberg, who blasted Trump Wednesday night and called on Americans to elect “a sane, competent person for president”.

“What’s the difference in what I told you and what they said?”.

The choices are disappointing and depressing, and all but ensure that no matter the outcome in November – and I’ve sworn off predictions – the next president will take office facing hefty measures of skepticism and hostility.

The vice presidential nominee said he was proud of how “upbeat positive” the Democrats’ convention was compared to the Republican one last week in Cleveland, which Kaine said was “a journey through Donald Trump’s mind – and that is a very frightening place”.

On the second day, it was Clinton’s husband, former US president Bill Clinton, who took centre stage, and who sought to portray his wife as a person, not a politician. Democrats hammered home those themes this week with an array of politicians, celebrities, gun-violence victims, law enforcement officers and activists of all sexual preferences and races.

Their goal is to turn out the coalition of minority, female and young voters that twice elected President Barack Obama while offsetting expected losses among the white male voters drawn to Trump’s message.

“He has no clue about what makes America great”.

Declaring that the United States is at a “moment of reckoning”, Clinton had on Friday attacked Trump for his “bigotry and bombast” while pitching herself to be a steady leader, as she scripted history by becoming the first woman presidential nominee.

Fox News Channel went from first to worst during a tumultuous two weeks that included the resignation of its chief executive, Roger Ailes, on the day Trump spoke. Kaine told CNN he found the Republican gathering “dark and depressing'”.

“Now we are clear-eyed about what our country is up against”. She went after her opponent early and returned to him time after time amid policy promises.

Chelsea Clinton, the nominee’s daughter, made the speech that introduced her mother, and Dugan said it lifted the spirits of the audience. The video from that super PAC, Rebuilding America Now, featured 30 seconds of unaltered Sanders railing on Clinton for not releasing her Wall Street speech transcripts.

Clinton fought off a strong challenge from Vermont Sen.

As a general-election candidate, Clinton is still confronting lingering resentments within the Democratic Party among supporters of her primary rival Bernie Sanders. “Your cause is our cause”.

For politicians, the true measure of the speech’s effectiveness will come in about a week, when polls indicate whether or not the convention gave Clinton a bump in popularity.
