With less than four months until election day, polling in the state has been mixed. And since arriving at the Senate, Kaine has been working to expand Congress’ role in voting for and declaring war, an effort that put him at odds with the White House.
The state, with its increasing Latino electorate, voted narrowly in support of Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
If elected in November, a Clinton-Kaine administration will aim to present during its first 100 days in office a new plan for immigration to the United States, with a specific program offering citizenship to arrivals from overseas. But, he said, Kaine was not the choice he was hoping for.

“He’s not like a virtuoso, but he can carry a tune”, Cribbs said.
