Hillary Clinton makes history as first female nominee of major political party
White House officials have described him as a “convert” to Clinton’s cause who, after fighting her bitterly in the 2008 Democratic primary, saw her abilities firsthand when he named her secretary of state.

Democrats were still enthusing over Mrs. Obama’s speech the next day – and hoping the first lady’s message would help win over those who have yet to commit to Clinton.
“I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my two black daughters playing with their dogs on the White House lawn”, she says in the speech. He traced their more than 40-year political and personal partnership in deep detail. New front… THE LADY IS HER CHAMP.
“No, this election, and every election, is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives”, she said.
For a man more accustomed to delivering policy-packed stem-winders, Clinton’s heartfelt address underscored the historic night for Democrats, and the nation. And in November, she will take on Donald Trump, nominated last week at the Republican convention in Cleveland.
Donald Trump otherwise has had no problem with picking political fights, the Post noted – no matter gender of his targets.
Clinton formally captured the Democratic nomination Tuesday night and declared the barrier keeping women from the presidency almost broken.
“She knows that she has work to do to earn people’s trust”, said Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton’s communications director. And Clinton will be introduced by her daughter, Chelsea.
She leads a party still grappling with divisions. At the same time, protesters who had spent the day marching in the hot sun began facing off with police.
This was second time Obama has hammered Trump in speeches without retaliation.
Even with a limited campaign schedule, the first lady can be a powerful political asset, her appeal enhanced by her largely apolitical image. But they also want to humanize Clinton and make her more relatable to voters, and Obama’s speech will play a major role in that goal.
President Clinton spoke after three hours of testimonials from lawmakers, advocates, celebrities and citizens who argued otherwise.
Heads turned when she took to the stage in an elegant A-line silhouette, crepe silk dress with cap sleeves and a fitted bodice – in the Democratic party’s signature shade of blue, of course – by designer Christian Siriano.
“Hillary Clinton has the passion and understanding to support grieving mothers”, said Sybrina Fulton, whose son Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012.
Will he provide the missing link in Hillary Clinton’s campaign? This year, he – and she – were criticized after he met privately with Attorney General Loretta Lynch in the middle of the FBI’s investigation into her email use at the State Department. Holding a sign saying “Centenarian for Hillary”, 102-year-old Jerry Emmett of Prescott, Arizona, cast her state delegation’s vote.
A handful of diehard Sanders delegates fumed over their candidate’s defeat, but they were drowned out by ecstatic Clinton supporters.
On Wednesday night, President Barack Obama will make his case for electing the former first lady, senator and secretary of state as the first woman to occupy the Oval Office.
These results come from a July 13-17 Gallup poll, more than a week ahead of this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Good thing Michelle Obama isn’t a politician.
