Clinton became the party’s standard bearer following days of tension between pro-Clinton forces and delegates who supported Sen.

Hillary Clinton is scheduled to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination on Thursday, but there are some Bernie Sanders supporters who haven’t chose to rally behind her just yet ― even if she’ll be up against Donald Trump in the general election.

Some passionate supporters don’t want to hear about Hillary Clinton – even when Sanders himself asks for their votes.

“Tonight, tonight, on this night, we will shatter that glass ceiling again”.

“Yes, we do break barriers – I broke a barrier when I became the first Democratic woman elected to the Senate in her own right”, Ms Mikulski said.

This post has been updated. After she nominated Bernie, IBEW union leader Paul Feeney and delegate Shyla Nelson came out to enthusiastically second the nomination.

“It was very personal for her, of all of us”, she said, standing next to their other childhood friend, Patsy Bowles.

After a long battle with US Senator Bernie Sanders, Clinton has more than the 2,383 delegates needed to win the vote and be the party’s standard-bearer against Republican nominee Donald Trump in the Nov 8 election.

“Madame chair, I move that the convention suspend the procedural rules”, he said.

There was talk of unity by Paul Feeney, Sanders’ Massachusetts and CT director, who pointed out that Clinton supporters raised “Bernie” signs as Sanders took the stage on Monday night. Clinton is expected to accept the nomination in a speech Thursday night.

Against chants of “Bernie!”

Among those people was Larry Sanders, the Vermont senator’s brother, who cried as he recalled their parents-“They did not have easy lives and they died young”, he said-and how “immensely proud” they would be of his brother and the political movement he led.

Monday night’s highlights at the convention included speeches from First Lady Michelle Obama, comedian Sarah Silverman and Sen.
