Hillary Clinton Picks Up Another Key Endorsement from Latino Lawmaker

Just hours before the newest GOP presidential main debate, Hillary Clinton will lay out her strategy for counterterrorism throughout remarks today on the campus at the College of Minnesota – Minneapolis.In accordance to aides, in her speech, the Democratic frontrunner will call for a “360-degree strategy” to combat domestic radicalization & foreign-inspired assaults right here at home, corresponding to the current mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif.

She was introduced by Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, the IL congressman who is one of the House’s loudest voices calling for immigration reform.

“If you work hard, if you love this country and want nothing more to build a good future for you and your children, we should give you a way to come forward and become a citizen”, she said. She is expected to deliver a speech on terrorism in Minnesota on Tuesday.

“I am so lucky to have her”, Clinton said, as Praeli watched from the back of the ballroom with tears in her eyes. A recent Quinnipiac University national poll found that 83 percent of voters said it is very likely or somewhat likely that terrorists will strike the U.S.in the near future, resulting in a large loss of life. But, the former Secretary of State continues to get a strong run from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

But Republicans view Obama’s handling of foreign policy and terrorism as a weakness and have tried to link Clinton to the president’s record, arguing that his policies in the Middle East allowed terrorist groups to flourish since the drawdown of troops in Iraq.

Authorities have said about a dozen Minnesota residents have traveled to Syria to join jihadist groups since late 2013, and several more have tried.

Jim Manley, a D.C.-based Democratic political consultant and an Edina native, said Clinton must lay out her plan carefully to appease Minnesotans concerned about the growing number of Somali-Americans “trying to wage jihad” and the state’s DFLers who are dominated by the antiwar wing of the Democratic Party.
