Hillary Clinton Postpones Trip to Charlotte

Hillary Clinton has made a decision to delay a planned Sunday visit to Charlotte after Mayor Jennifer Roberts on Friday urged the presidential candidates to postpone trips, the campaign announced late Friday. “We appreciate that they are concerned about Charlotte”, Roberts told CNN’s Erin Burnett on “OutFront”.

Earlier in the day, the campaign said Clinton would visit the city on Sunday after the police shooting of an African-American man triggered days of unrest.

“Hillary is grateful for, and intends to honor, the invitation from faith leaders to visit with the Charlotte community”, her campaign said in a statement on Friday.

The New York Times editorial board delivered a hearty endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Saturday, while calling Donald Trump the “worst nominee” put forward by a major party in American history.

“… we’re aiming instead to persuade those of you who are hesitating to vote for Mrs. Clinton – because you are reluctant to vote for a Democrat, or for another Clinton, or for a candidate who might appear, on the surface, not to offer change from an establishment that seems indifferent and a political system that seems broken”, the Times wrote. “We must ensure justice & work to bridge divides”. “If there would be a way to delay those visits in terms of giving us a chance to get our city back to order and back to more of a state of normalcy, that would probably be ideal”, she added.

The daily praised Clinton’s “intellect, experience and courage” and said a comparison between her and Trump “would be an empty exercise” as Clinton had a record of public service and policy ideas.

Two police videos from a dashboard camera and an officer’s body camera show how Scott died, but have not been released to the public, CNN noted. Police allowed Scott’s family to view the videos Wednesday.
