Hillary Clinton Raises LGBT Issues in Anderson Cooper’s Town Hall

“The great story here, for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it, is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president”, she said at the time. “You know, they brought in some new multi-billionaires to pump the money in”, Clinton said. “I didn’t know whether I would or not”, she added when asked why she took the money knowing it would look bad if she ran.

His campaign quickly noted the moment Wednesday night. “I am not actively involved with organized religion”, he told the Washington Post.

Hillary Clinton gave a very lengthy answer at CNN’s Democratic town hall tonight to the question of fighting back against Republican attacks against her. She quipped, “I’ve had a lot of practice”. “That’s what they offered, so um…”

Clinton repeated her pledge to fight for marriage equality and to end LGBT discrimination in her closing remarks.

Meanwhile Sanders, who was behind Clinton by a whisker in the Iowa caucases, said faith was a “guiding principle” in his life. Though he did not use the word God, the Vermont senator said he is driven by his faith and an idea that what happens to one person, “impacts” him. “That’s what they offered so… you know, every secretary of state that I know has done that”.

“I worry very much about a society where some people spiritually say, ‘It doesn’t matter to me”.

‘I read that parable and there was a line in it that became just a lifeline for me. “So just know what we’re up against because it’s real and we’re going to beat it. But it’s going to take everybody working together”. “So regardless of how hard the days are, how difficult the decisions are, be grateful, be grateful for being a human being, being part of the universe, be grateful for your limitations”.
