Hillary Clinton will make public her 2015 return, while 10 years of running mate Tim Kaine’s returns will come out, according to reporting from CNBC’s John Harwood.
Clinton aide Jennifer Palmieri said in a statement the campaign continues “to set the standard for financial transparency”.
The Clinton campaign’s release gave them another opportunity to jab Trump for his refusal to release his own tax returns.
Clinton insisted that this election cycle is not “normal”, adding that she had taken note of the fact that Republican figures and voters were joining her campaign upon deciding that Trump does not represent their values.
Mr Trump has repeatedly declined to share his tax information, claiming that he is now undergoing an audit from the Internal Revenue Service.
Trump has so far declined to release his, arguing that his tax returns for the past several years are being audited.
Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, said the billionaire businessman was trying to unite Second Amendment supporters to turn out to defeat Clinton.
The returns became a campaign issue after the documents showed he paid an effective tax rate of 14.1%, much lower than the typical rate for top earners. “And if you are running to be president or you are president of the U.S., words can have tremendous consequences”, the former USA secretary of state said on Wednesday while addressing a campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Clintons donated 9.8 percent of the adjusted gross income to charity. The Democratic presidential candidate has proposed under her tax plan that anyone with adjusted gross income over $1 million would have to pay a minimum of 30% of their income in taxes.
Then-President Richard Nixon released his tax returns in 1973, starting an informal precedent.
Clinton and Kaine’s efforts will likely have the same outcome.
Unlike Richard Nixon, Hillary Clinton can declare, “I am not a crook”, and the evidence supports her.
At an appearance in Miami Beach, Florida, hours before Clinton’s speech, Trump said his rival “wants to tax and regulate our economy to death”. Spokesman Jason Miller listed a litany of other information Clinton should release.
Bill Clinton’s consulting work for GEMS Education, a global network of for-profit schools based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, earned him more than $5.6 million in fees between 2010 and 2015, according to the tax returns.

All told, the couple earned $151.5 million over the last nine years, and some $238 million since they left the White House in 2001.
