Hillary Clinton releases 2015 tax returns, still no Trump numbers
According to their joint return, the Clintons made $10.6 million in 2015, significantly less than the almost $28 million they made the year before when the former secretary of state was still doing paid speaking engagements.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Friday released her 2015 tax return, adding to a large stack of tax documents she’s already made public.
By opening up her IRS documents again, as presidential candidates from both parties have done for some four decades, Clinton may boring the effect of any attacks over her lucre. Tim Kaine of Virginia, and his wife, Anne Holton, also released their returns.
A new Fox poll shows Democrat Hillary Clinton has a forty-six point advantage over Republican Donald Trump among Latino voters. They paid an effective federal income tax rate of 34.2 percent and donated nearly 10 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity, the campaign said.
US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton rebuked comments made by her rival Donald Trump earlier, claiming that she and incumbent US President Barack Obama were the founders of the “Islamic State” (IS) group.
Trump’s exercise in self-awareness was a marked departure from his usual tenor on the campaign trail, where for months at rallies he would tick through poll numbers showing him winning as if they were sports scores of his favorite team.
There are no laws prohibiting tax returns under audit from being released.
Trump, for his part, has refused to release his returns – something no major party presidential candidate has done since Richard Nixon. In 2015 the couple made $313,441 and paid a combined effective tax rate of 25.6%.
Clinton has been highly critical of Trump for his failure to disclose personal financial information, hinting it is because he does not pay a very high percentage of his income in taxes and that he may not be as wealthy as he says he is.
As CNN reports, “with the release of her 2015 income taxes, Clinton has now released 39 years’ worth of tax returns over the course of her career”.
According to the filings, Bill and Hillary Clinton earned $10.7 million in 2015 and paid roughly $3.6 million in federal taxes. The campaign noted that the couple have now released all their tax returns dating to 1977.
The Clintons have been criticized for collecting what are perceived as exorbitant fees related to public speaking events. The Clintons earn their speech, book-writing and consulting fees entirely through pass-throughs. In 2012, her previous year at the State Department, he earned more than $16.3 million for 72 speeches. That’s $40 million during a four-year term.
