Clinton and her campaign have dismissed recent rumors of ill health.

During the ceremony, Clinton – flanked by New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand – stood in close proximity, but apparently had no direct interaction with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who stood alongside advisors Rudy Giuliani and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Clinton had a coughing fit while campaigning in Cleveland early last week. However, the effort to paint her as unwell has traded in a variety of wild rumors, with Trump surrogates openly speculating about varied maladies they think Clinton could be dealing with.

The campaign already released a summary of Clinton’s medical records and conditions previous year, but Sunday’s collapse is sure to fuel the fire and could revive calls for both candidates to release updated detailed health records – something Trump has been pushing for. Reasonable people can – and will – have real questions about her health.

Clinton leads Trump 46 per cent to 41 per cent lead among likely voters, according to the poll, which had a 4.5 percentage-point margin of error.

For months, Trump’s supporters have tried to make the case that Clinton is physically unfit for the White House, citing a concussion she sustained in December 2012 after fainting. Reporters traveling with Clinton could not see her directly, but the politicians around her were all standing and packed tightly together.
